Druid to complete Keane Trilogy
Following the critical success of the company's award-winning productions of Sharon's Grave (2003) and Sive (2002), Druid returns to the work of John B Keane with The Year of the Hiker, the last in the Druid Keane Trilogy. The production opens in Galway's Town Hall Theatre on 9th May and in Dublin's Gaiety Theatre on Monday 22nd May for a limited run.

Written in 1964, The Year of the Hiker marked a significant departure for Keane. Set in the sixties and shot through with yearning and regret for lost love Hiker contains some of Keane's most lyrical and tender writing. On production the play immediately gained a major place in the Keane canon and has been produced almost continuously in Ireland over the last forty years.

"I'm so pleased to return to John B's work with this beautiful play and to do so with actors like Marie Mullen, Eamon Morrissey and Catherine Walsh. I think we will have a treat in store for the huge audiences that love his work" said Garry Hynes Artistic Director of Druid

Directed by Garry Hynes and featuring a stellar Irish cast including Garrett Lombard and members of last year's DruidSynge ensemble Sarah Jane Drummey, Nick Lee, Aaron Monaghan, Eamon Morrissey, Marie Mullen, and Catherine Walsh, this major new production will open in Galway's Town Hall Theatre on 9th May for two weeks followed by a limited run at the Gaiety Theatre Dublin from May 22nd.

Druid travel to the US with the company's acclaimed DruidSynge immediately after the Gaiety run.
