20th July 2003 Following the sucess of its award-winning production of Sive last year; Druid continues its exploration of the works of Ireland's finest playwrights John B Keane. In September, Garry Hynes will direct a stellar Irish cast of twelve in a major new production of Sharon's Grave arguably Keane's most extraordinary play about the struggle between the forces of good and evil and the mythical beliefs of 1930's rural Ireland. This deeply lyrical folk play, set on an Atlantic headland at the mercy of wind and rain, tells the tale of Trassie Conlee's fight to protect both herself and her brother Neelus from the menace of her ruthless cousin Dinzee Conlee, one of Keane's most extraordinary theatrical creations. And then there is Trassie's growing love for the thatcher, Peader Minogue. Sharon's Grave By John B. Keane
