Should she fight to keep her husband? Or should she sign the final papers and move on? My Brilliant Divorce opens in Galway on November 7th for one week only and will then tour to six other venues in Ireland – see full details below. One of Ireland's best known stand up comedians, Deirdre began her career as an actress and has played every major theatre in Ireland as well as touring to Australia, Canada and the UK. Her most recent role was Jean in two sold-out runs of Dandelions at the Olympia in 2006. Acting credits on television include The Clinic (RTE), Fergus's Wedding (RTE), Paths To Freedom (RTE/BBC), and The Fitz (BBC). She also hosted and co-wrote the 10-part series of stand-up and sketches The Lounge (RTE) which included guests such as Rich Hall, Phil Nichol, Adam Hills, and Dara O'Briain. Deirdre's feature film credits include: Frida in the BAFTA-nominated Festival (Film Four), Grace in Boy Eats Girl (Element Films) and Noeleen in Intermission (Company of Wolves). This is Deirdre’s second production with Druid having previously played Miss Funny in At the Black Pig's Dyke. Geraldine Aron was born in Galway, but spent most of her adult life in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. She now divides her time between Cape Town and London. Geraldine’s association with Druid goes back to 1978 when Garry Hynes directed the Irish premiere of her first play, the multi-award winning Bar and Ger. Her plays, produced throughout the world, include A Galway Girl, Same Old Moon, The Donahue Sisters and The Stanley Parkers. She is the author of twelve plays produced for television and radio, and Toscanini, a screenplay directed by Franco Zeffirelli. This national tour of My Brilliant Divorce is supported by the Arts Council Touring Experiment.
