14th March 2003 John B Keane's Sive, arguably his greatest play, is an established classic. Set in a remote area of North Kerry, the play tells the story of the promise in marriage of the young and beautiful Sive to an old man. Written 40 years ago it is a rich character and social portrait of mid-century rural Ireland, a classic morality tale about the consequences of greed and bitterness. Following a sell out run during the Dublin Theatre Festival last year, this award winning Druid production directed by Garry Hynes and with a star-studded cast which includes Derbhle Crotty, Anna Manahan, Eamonn Morrissey and Ruth Bradley as Sive makes a welcome return to the stage for a limited period. Don't miss this extraordinary production by a company universally recognised as one of the pioneers of the modern cultural development of Ireland in the last quarter of a century.
