The acclaimed DruidSynge productions of The Playboy of the Western World, The Well of the Saints and The Tinker's Wedding feature in the list of nominations for the 2004 Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Awards, with Druid receiving nominations in four categories. The DruidSynge production of The Playboy of the Western World is nominated for Best Production; Druid founding member Marie Mullen is nominated for Best Actress for her roles as Mary Byrne and Mary Doul in The Tinker's Wedding and The Well of the Saints; Aisling O'Sullivan is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Widow Quinn in The Playboy of the Western World and Kathy Strachan is nominated for Best Designer - Costumes for The Playboy of the Western World. Aaron Monaghan, who in February takes over the role of Christy Mahon from Cillian Murphy in Druid's production of The Playboy, was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actor for his role as Harvey Duff in the Abbey Theatre production of The Shaughraun.
