DruidSynge features prominently in the list of nominations for the 2005 Irish Times/ESB Irish Theatre Awards, receiving nominations in four categories. Garry Hynes has been nominated for Best Director, Marie Mullen for Best Actress and Francis O’Connor for Best Design. DruidSynge has been nominated for a Judges Special Award for ‘its powerful and compelling presentation of the complete works of John Millington Synge’. The winners will be announced at a gala reception on Sunday 12th February. In August, Druid received a Herald Angel award for its outstanding DruidSynge productions at the Edinburgh International Festival and an Angel Award went to Marie Mullen for her acclaimed performances throughout DruidSynge. Herald Angels have been awarded across the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe for the last 9 years by The Herald critics to acknowledge outstanding productions and performances. In November, the programme book for DruidSynge, designed by Bite Design, Cork and printed by Cityprint, Cork was announced as the outright winner of the Robert Horne ÍON Trophy for Print and Design Excellence 2004/2005. The competition attracted hundreds of entries from top Irish design and print companies. In December, Druid won the Marketing Excellence Award in the 2005 Annual Marketing Institute West Region Awards for its marketing and promotion of DruidSynge. The Award was presented to the company for its ‘innovative and creative approach to marketing within business’. |
