The Silver Tassie 2011 - Lincoln Center Festival, New York

Sean O'Casey

You can check out photos, interviews and reviews and a video interview with Garry Hynes.

Druid’s production of The Silver Tassie received its US premiere at the 2011 Lincoln Center Festival in New York on July 26, 2011.

The New York run was part of Imagine Ireland, Culture Ireland’s year-long season of Irish arts in America in 2011 and The Silver Tassie was Druid’s third show to tour to the USA in 2011. Other Druid shows that toured the US in the same year included a 17 week coast to coast tour of The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh and a three week run of Penelope by Enda Walsh at the Studio Theatre in Washington DC.

Druid’s 2010 production of The Silver Tassie toured Ireland and the UK and was one of the highlights of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival.

About The Silver Tassie

This sweeping play follows the lives of two young footballing heroes from the tenements of Dublin through the battlefields of France, and their return home.

Using all the resources of the theatre including live music and dance, this is an epic staging of one of O’Casey’s great plays.

Druid would like to acknowledge the continued support of the Arts Council in funding the company’s work and also the support of Culture Ireland in funding its international touring programme.
