DruidMurphy: Conversations on a Homecoming & A Whistle in the Dark - NASC Irish Tour

2013 DruidMurphy Tour

★★★★★ THE FINANCIAL TIMES “Murphy is, I suspect, the greatest dramatist writing in English.”

Winner of Best Production at the Irish Times Irish Theatre awards, the theatrical highlight of 2012 is back! Hot on the heels of widespread international critical acclaim, Druid presents this rare opportunity to see these two remarkable plays by Tom Murphy in repertory. Hailed by The New York Times as “epic theatre making”, by The Irish Times as “world-class”, The Daily Telegraph goes on to say “attendance should be obligatory”.

This is a must-see event. DruidMurphy has already been a sell-out success on tour and is guaranteed to be the hot ticket again this season. Early booking advised

Presented in association with the NASC network and supported by an Arts Council touring grant.

DruidMurphy – Plays by Tom Murphy was a co-production with Quinnipiac University Connecticut, NUI Galway, Lincoln Center Festival and Galway Arts Festival.

DruidMurphy: Conversations on a Homecoming & A Whistle in the Dark

DruidMurphy: Conversations on a Homecoming
County Galway in the 1970s and even the humble small-town pub can be a magnet for dreamers. Now in his 30s, and over a long drinking session on a winter’s evening, Michael – recently returned from New York after a ten year absence – has a reunion with old friends in “The White House”. He was the one member among them who got away to live the dream and now he’s back.

DruidMurphy: A Whistle in the Dark
It’s 1960 and Michael Carney is an Irish emigrant living in Coventry, England, with his new wife Betty. Michael has integrated well into English society, but the same can’t be said of his wild brothers who are lodging with him. Tensions boil over after the arrival of his father and youngest brother from home.
