Press Release: DruidMurphy 2013 Irish Tour Announced

Following hot on the heels of widespread critical acclaim in London, New York and at Galway Arts Festival, DruidMurphy will now tour extensively in 2013 with a touring repertory presentation of DruidMurphy: Conversations on a Homecoming and A Whistle in the Dark where audiences can enjoy a rare opportunity to see two Druid plays in one week, either on alternate evenings or in a double bill.

Funded by an Arts Council touring grant and presented by the NASC network of regional theatres, this far reaching and ambitious 11 week tour will see these two plays travel to Galway, Tralee, Portlaoise, Ennis, Letterkenny, Longford, Dún Laoghaire and Limerick. Each venue will host the company for a week, with the shows playing in repertory – staged on alternate evenings during the week – or as a double bill on Saturdays.

This latest announcement demonstrates Druid’s continued resolve and capacity in bringing outstanding world-class theatre to audiences throughout Ireland. Garry Hynes commented,

“The incredible DruidMurphy journey continues and I’m thrilled that with the support of the Arts Council, and thanks to the NASC venues, that we’re now able to bring two of Tom’s plays around the country. This is a very rare opportunity for audiences to see two Druid plays in one week, either on alternate evenings or together in a double bill, making this one of Druid’s biggest and longest Irish tours. Tom’s work has always been very popular with Druid audiences and we’re looking forward to bringing his work back around the country again.”
