The American premiere of Druid’s production of The New Electric Ballroom by Enda Walsh has been hailed by US critics as “pricelessly funny” and “deeply moving” (Variety). Praise too goes to the performances from Rosaleen Linehan, Ruth McCabe, Mikel Murfi and Catherine Walsh – “the acting is superlative” (New York Times); “the Irish cast performs brilliantly” (New York Post); “first-rate acting quartet” (Theatermania).
Enda Walsh has long had a growing reputation as one of Ireland’s great playwrights and the acclaim continues – “Mr Walsh…has a breathtaking lyrical gift capable of encompassing daft humor and spine-chilling truths in language that still remains powerfully real” (New York Times); “Walsh…undeniably succeeds in conjuring a distinctive theatrical universe” (New York Post).
Druid’s production of The New Electric Ballroom continues its run at St Ann’s Warehouse, New York, until November 22nd before it transfers to UCLA Live in Los Angeles from December 2nd – 6th.
