John Olohan for his role as Byrne in Big Maggie by John B Keane, directed by Garry Hynes.

Druid congratulates John Olohan on winning the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2011 Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards held in the RHA Kilmainham on Sunday, February 26th. John won this award for his role as Byrne in Druid’s production of Big Maggie by John B. Keane, which was directed by Garry Hynes. Big Maggie wowed critics and audiences during its Irish tour from November 2011 to February of this year, and was one of last year’s theatre highlights.

Garry Hynes commented:

“John is one of Ireland’s finest actors and a wonderful company member. All of us here at Druid congratulate him on his award and we’re looking forward to having him back in the fold soon again for DruidMurphy.”

John previously worked with Druid on The Playboy of the Western World and The Silver Tassie. He returns to work with Druid in the coming weeks on their major project, DruidMurphy – Plays by Tom Murphy, directed by Garry Hynes.
