Sharon’s Grave 2003 - Irish Tour

John B Keane

    THIS PRODUCTION IS NOW ARCHIVED.

    Production History

Following the critical success of its award-winning production of Sive in 2002, Druid continued its incisive exploration of the works of one of Ireland’s most forthright, individualistic and controversial playwrights John B Keane. Garry Hynes directed a stellar Irish cast in a major new production of what is arguably Keane’s most extraordinary play about the struggle between the forces of good and evil, and the mythical beliefs of 1930s rural Ireland.

    About the Tour

Following their critically-acclaimed production of Sive in 2002, Druid once again returned to the Dublin Theatre Festival with a stop at the Gaiety Theate, along with return’s to classic Druid venues such as the Cork Opera House, the Hawk’s Well Theatre in Sligo, and of course the Town Hall Theatre in Galway.

    About the Play

This deeply lyrical folk play, set on an Atlantic headland at the mercy of wind and rain, tells the tale of Trassie Conlee’s fight to protect both herself and her brother Neelus from the menace of her ruthless cousin Dinzee Conlee, one of Keane’s most extraordinary theatrical creations. And then there is Trassie’s growing love for the thatcher, Peadar Minogue…
