Druid won 5 awards for DruidShakespeare at tonight’s Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards:

Best Production

Best Director – Garry Hynes

Best Actress – Derbhle Crotty

Best Actor – Marty Rea

Best Costume Design – Doreen McKenna and Francis O’Connor

Marie Mullen spoke on behalf of DruidShakespeare director Garry Hynes: ‘It is a privilege to accept these awards for DruidShakespeare. Many people came along the road with us on this production, from the very early stages to the final curtain and I would especially like to thank our co-producers, Lincoln Center Festival, our associate producers, Kilkenny Arts Festival, our funders the Arts Council and Culture Ireland, and of course our audiences. DruidShakespeare was a hugely challenging but richly rewarding experience and it is fantastic to reflect on that and to celebrate this evening with these awards.’
