Druid Invites Applications for the Position of Managing Director

The deadline for applications has been extended to Friday 14th October

Druid Theatre Company wishes to fill the position of Managing Director and seeks applications from suitably qualified individuals. The person appointed will be an exceptional leader with key experience in national and international theatre production. S/he will report to the Artistic Director and to the Board of Druid to produce work of the highest quality for national and international audiences. The post is based in Druid’s Galway home but will involve work in various locations. It requires a track record of successful production at home and abroad, proven ability as a leader, passion for excellence, agility and imagination and a commitment to Druid’s Vision and Mission.

Managing Director – Key Responsibilities

• Management of Druid’s staff and assets ensuring the smooth running of the company and keeping the Artistic Director and the Board fully appraised of all relevant issues
• Promotion of Druid’s Vision and Mission in the strategic development of the company
• Acting as lead producer and line manager on behalf of the company with regard to all of its productions and working with the Artistic Director:
o To develop production and planning schedules
o To achieve the artistic ambitions of the company
o To nurture and develop the Druid Ensemble
• Leading negotiations in any business or funding deals/arrangements on behalf of Druid and source, develop and nurture key funding partner relationships including but not limited to the Arts Council, Culture Ireland, Galway City and County Councils, NUIG, and Theatre Forum
• Ensuring the company complies with all relevant regulation and legislation in regard to governance, financial reporting, equality, HR obligations, public safety etc.
• Acting as spokesman for the company as deemed appropriate by the Artistic Director and the Chairman/Board
• Overseeing the optimal use of the company’s assets, including the Mick Lally Theatre, setting targets and ensuring their delivery
• Any other reasonable assignment as may from time to time be agreed with the Artistic Director and/or the Board.
