Casting Complete on First Two Druid Tours of 2011

Casting is now complete for our 2011 productions of The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh and Penelope by Enda Walsh.

Aaron Monaghan

Four of the original Penelope cast members, Niall Buggy, Denis Conway, Karl Shiels and Olga Wehrly return and will be joined by Aaron Monaghan who takes over the role of Burns from Tadhg Murphy. Meanwhile, over on our production of The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, Tadhg will take over the role of Billy from Aaron.

Druid welcomes back Liam Carney, Ingrid Craigie, Clare Dunne, Laurence Kinlan and Dearbhla Molloy for The Cripple of Inishmaan and they will be joined by Dermot Crowley, Nancy E. Carroll and Paul Vincent O’Connor who will be working with Druid for the first time. Rehearsals start January 4th and the show tours non stop until June 26th.

Tadhg Murphy

The Cripple of Inishmaan kicks off its major 5 month US and Irish tour in Roscommon on January 27th with stops in Boston, Charleston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Ann Arbor, New Haven, Berkeley, Galway and Dublin culminating in two performances on Inis Meáin on June 26th, the first time the play will have been staged on the island.

Penelope will run at the Hampstead Theatre in London from February 10 – March 5 and at the Studio Theatre in Washington DC from March 15 – April 3.
