Among the buildings situated in the area in the early 1970s were a number of convents and nunneries which probably gave rise to the story that the lane is haunted by a faceless nun who walks slowly through the neighbouring streets each night. So far, none of the company has actually seen her, but nobody is ready to deny that she exists. Sean McGinley on one occasion working in the theatre in the small hours of the night in the early 80s heard very strange noises, but unfortunately fled before he discovered anything further.
