The Walworth Farce - Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2007 Following the critically acclaimed DruidSynge performances in the 2005 Edinburgh International Festival (Herald Angel 2005), Druid will now play Traverse as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with The Walworth Farce by Enda Walsh, one of Ireland’s finest young playwrights. The Festival welcomes Enda’s return to Edinburgh following his outstanding success with Disco Pigs (Stewart Parker and George Devine Awards) in 1997 and Bedbound in 2001. This UK Premiere of Enda Walsh’s remarkable play combines hilarious moments with shocking realism and delivers an achingly tender insight into what can happen when we become stuck in the stories we tell ourselves about our lives. The Walworth Farce is a blend of frenetic, madcap slapstick and the deeper, darker concerns which are central to the characters’ lives. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s biggest arts festival and last year featured over 28,000 performances across 261 venues selling over 1.35 million tickets. The Walworth Farce opens at Traverse on August 5th and runs until August 26th. Druid’s visit to Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which is supported by Culture Ireland, brings an exciting creative team to Traverse – Director Mikel Murfi (Trad, Fringe First 2005), Designer Sabine Dargent and Lighting Designer Paul Keogan.
